Welcome to our new Youth Minister, Miguel Covarrubias

     I am delighted to announce that after more than a year of active searching, we have called a youth minister for St. Luke’s--Miguel Covarrubias.  Miguel is a graduate of Colorado Christian University with a BFA in Youth Ministries and a minor in Theatre and emphasis in Biblical Studies.  He has served churches in Colorado, Virginia and Billings, Montana, where he is currently living.  He is engaged to be married next year.  He will be moving to Jamestown Labor Day weekend and will start officially on September 7.

      I would like to thank our dedicated Youth Minister Search Committee for their long hard work in this process.  Special thanks go to our chairperson, Karen Collins, for her exemplary leadership, positive attitude, and dedication.

      I am especially pleased that we will be able to start our program year with this exciting addition to our staff and our youth program.  Please pray for Miguel as he deals with this transition and do what you can to make him feel welcome.

Youth Group Picnic on the Lake -- Rescheduled for September 12

We have also been invited again to come to the home of Al Brown for an afternoon of swimming, boating and eating.  This is now rescheduled for Sunday,  Sep 12 at 2 pm.  Al lives at Connelly Park just off Rt. 394 in Ashville.  I will provide hot dogs, burgers, buns and condiments, but we will need folks to bring beverages and a dish to share.  Wear swimming suits and water shoes if you have them.  Let’s hope for a nice day.

Youth Nights resume September 19

Youth Nights are held the first and third Sunday of each month and are open to all young people in Kindergarten through High School.  Check the VOICE or call to check because times sometimes change depending on the activity. Our first youth night Sep 19 will be a special party for youth and parents to welcome Miguel.  We will be talking about plans for the Fall--be sure to come!

   5 pm   Youth Choir rehearses in the church

   6 pm   Dinner is provided.  We ask parents to volunteer to provide dinners on a rotating basis.

   6:45-8 pm  Youth programs

Rite 13

This is our program for youth ages 11-13 and includes Sunday morning classes on the third floor of the parish house along with youth nights, service projects and other outings.  The leader is Cathy Basile.

J2A

J2A follows Rite 13 and is our program for young people ages 13 and up.  Sunday morning classes are also held on the third floor of the parish house and includes other activities and outings as well.  Check out this commercial for St. Luke's, created by our J2A class.

Youth Choir

Youth choir is open to all young people ages 6 and up.  They sing roughly once a month on Sunday mornings and rehearse the first and third Sunday of the month at 5 pm.  Talk to Ron McEntire, our director of music, if you are interested.

Sunday School
